(edit) I later found a couple of other $10 spots and a couple of places where surely you could get away with rolling out a sleeping bag for free. Having your own car would solve all of these problems. And for $40 single or $55 for up to four people you can rent a cement floor cabana with a bed and communal showers. That place is the last one at the north end of Tulum beach, just before the ruins. I is called something like Zin Zin but looked like a real fun crowd. Stay away from Diamante K which appears to be run by a mean old witch who will get you when you aren·t looking. By the way, as I type this in the internet cafe, I realize you can not type without looking, as the keyboard is different. Wanna know how to do an @? That would be >Alt>64 in case you are interested.
